    Description

You are bidding on a collection of service records, military registration card, framed military photograph, a 1918 flight school graduation diploma (University Of Texas – Austin) personal family photo and pilot’s book of Benjamin Ford Kitchen; all documents are contained in a monogrammed brown leather portfolio and the pilot log and military photo are separate.
The paper-framed military photo shows him wearing his hat and the WW1 Bullion Patch Wings insignia, which was only awarded to distinguished aviators. The condition of the logbook and the portfolio are very good and has some wear consistent with its 103 year age; please see all photos. The pilot’s log also contains a photo of 2nd Lieutenant Kitchen with his mother. Of special note is the signature of Lieutenant Colonel T. C. Turner – Chief of Aviation, US Marine Corps – (Kitchen’s superior officer) contained in the Individual Record Card.
Colonel Thomas Caldwell ( T.C.) TURNER of the US Marine Corp died in 1931; the Chief of Aviation Section of the Corps was among the first to land at Vera Cruz in 1914.
