The original BOWL OF NIGHT Planisphere Celestial Globe by Farquhar Transparent Globes, Inc. Philadelphia PA - 1982 - acrylic hemispheres with screen print graphics. This item consists of TWO (2) nesting acrylic hemispheres - the Northern Hemisphere is blue with white silk screen printed celestial map of the night sky and calendar on the outer rim; the bottom bowl is clear with a black screen printed horizon, hourly/directional markers and instructions for use. This is the NON-ILLUMINATED version.
Condition is Used and Imperfect - there is cosmetic damage, to include scratches, to the clear hemisphere (see images). The blue hemisphere has sustained structural damage - an indentation measuring approx. 4 1/2” x 2 1/2”, across the constellations of Ursa Minor (including the Big and Little Dippers) and Draco. I have attempted to photograph the flaw as accurately as possible. This indentation has a subsequently created a semicircular scratch on the clear internal bowl (see images). This set is MISSING the cylindrical cradle.
